Scientists have now discerned was has caused the events that have taken place over the last 48 hours in the ACT. Chemicals from the ANU, most likely from the water development test that took place the previous week, leaked into the water supply and multiplied creating the virus. Only those with extended exposure over the 5 day test were affected and the short half-life of the virus means that Canberra's water supply will be salvageable.
The virus affects brain activity, victims losing they're ability for all conscious thought. It would appear that the virus attacks through when conscious thought is very low and this is why it took hold overnight, whilst Canberrans were sleeping. The virus also speeds up metabolism making those infected violently hungry, which is why we are continuing the quarantine. We believe at this brains of those infected are highly sensitive, even to light coming through the eyes and that this is causing the nocturnal nature of those infected. Our scientist believe they can reverse the affects of the virus and an action plan is being developed.
So far there has been no confirmed reports of unaffected citizen or fatalities. We hope this disaster will be resolved soon.
